The New Build!

Postby Mossy » Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:54 pm

Well, today has seen the start of the pond build. It is happening alongside a house extension so will take a little longer than normal I suspect. The pond is to be situated where the yellow rectangle is! Hoping for internal dimensions of16' x 10' x 5' deep. Building 4' out of the ground. Will be going with a profidrum combi 30 and heat via a ASHP. If anyone uses this filter I would be interested in knowing how much room you have allowed for the pumps etc so I can plan the concrete pad for the filter to sit on. Couple of pics to start us off. Pleas feel free to offer advice and guidance as I trundle along, it's been a long time since I last had a pond and this is definitely going to be the last one I ever do (unless I win the lottery)

Well that was hard work. Glad I'm never doing this again!
The floor is in (although won't seem to upload the photo). Planning on building using 9" hollow blocks.
Looking for advice on how to add a window when building with the hollow blocks. I was intending single skin or do I need to go thicker?
Also, any recommendations for fibreglasser in the north east area?

TIA

Carl
